Developing Endurance & Strength

An important component of exercise is the development of physical endurance and strength. Read on to discover the best practices for developing your personal stamina during your workouts.

Increase Repetitions – When you are trying to develop your endurance and strength, it is important to work on doing as many reps as you can, as opposed to lifting as much weight as you can. It is helpful to keep track of how many repetitions you do, and try to increase that amount each time you work out.

Include Cardio  – It is important to include some type of cardio into your workout to develop cardiovascular endurance. A great way to build cardio stamina is through bench steps. Using a weight bench, step up onto it one leg at a time, then carefully step back down. Once you get used to the motion, increase your pace to build up your stamina. Other options to develop your cardio abilities include squatting, hopping, walking, jogging, or running.

Balance Diet – Ensure that your are taking in enough vitamins, proteins, and carbohydrates each day for your body to convert into energy. This is important in developing stamina, as the body will utilize this power while you exercise. Proteins are especially important to consume to help muscle growth. Remember to also stay hydrated during your workouts to avoid becoming fatigued.

Reduce Rest – Try to eliminate rest periods between your sets to better build strength and endurance. If rest periods are necessary, keep in mind that too long of a rest between reps will trick your body into becoming exhausted, so keep them to a minimum.

Keep Pace – When trying to build stamina, it is best to maintain a fast pace during your workouts. Keeping a fast pace also allows you to kick start your metabolism. This allows you the ability to burn more fat while developing more muscle.

Avoid Routine – Muscle confusion is the best way to develop strength, so avoid doing the same workouts every day. Combine muscle moves to get the most out of your strength training. Rotate the moves you are doing each day, and try to work on multiple groups of muscles instead of targeting a specific area each time you work out.
